Mr. Bierbaum, 78, of Eyota, died Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2008) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born Nov. 15, 1929, in Viola Township, Olmsted County. He attended rural school and graduated from Eyota High School in 1947. On July 15, 1967, he married Clarice Fuchs at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota. The couple made their home in Eyota. Mr. Bierbaum worked for Curtiss Breeding Service as an artificial inseminator and also worked in the lab at 21st Century Genetics in Stewartville. He retired in 1995. In retirement, he worked as a handyman for Social Services and volunteered at Channel One Food Shelf. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, participating in sports, and watching sports. He had served on the Eyota City Council, as well as the City Planning Commission.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jill (John) Finnan of Rochester; a son, Dirk (Kristine) of Rochester; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold and Loren (Betty Jo), both of Eyota. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota, and an hour before the service Monday at the church in Rochester.
