Willard "Jess" Stebens was born April 20, 1932 in Moreland, Kansas to William and Gertrude Stebens. He had 11 brothers and sisters. Jess grew up in Garden City, Kansas.
After graduating High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was an Electrician Mate on the USS Chanticleer and also studied Business Administration. After 4 years, he received an honorable discharge.
He married the love of his life, Frances "Faye" Stebens and the two Newlyweds set off for Los Banos, California where they bought their first home.
In 1966, Jess and Faye packed up and moved their family to Fresno, CA where Jess accepted a management position with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. In 1987, he started working as an Independent Insurance Broker, and in 1997, he retired and assumed his most favored role as full-time grandpa and dad. In his spare time, Jess enjoyed remodeling houses, attending local swap-meets and taking long coffee breaks!
He was preceded in death by; his parents William & Gertrude Stebens, 9 brothers and sisters, son-in-law; Joe Work, granddaughter; Steffanie (Stebens) Chanminalath and step son-in-law; Terry Haney.
He is survived by; his wife of 66 years; Faye Stebens, his son Michael Stebens and wife Mary, daughter; Cheryl Work, step daughter; Carol Haney, grandchildren; Shanna (Stebens) Larsen, Matthew Borelli, Jared Work and wife Rebeca, Kristen (Work) Samaniego and husband Ignacio, Michelle Carter and husband Keith, Stephanie Bailey, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grand children; two sisters, Dorothy Komlofske and Joan Washam countless in-laws, nephews, nieces and cousins. He will be loved and missed by all.
