Mrs. Marie Hansel Rich Guffey, age 82, of School Circle in Blairsville, passed away on Sunday September 29, 2003 at her home. Mrs. Guffey was born on November 12, 1929 in Union County, the daughter of the late Jim Rich and the late Julie Colwell Rich. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Guffey; two daughters, Darlene and Diane Guffey and a son, Roger Dale Guffey. Mrs. Guffey was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Guffey are a grandson, Timmy Burch of Blairsville; one sister, Jan Nelson of Blairsville; one brother, David Rich of Blairsville; nephew, Mike Arnold; nieces, Jackie Arnold and Martha Hamby, all of Blairsville; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 from the Blairsville City Cemetery with Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. Wofford Kelley officiating. The following gentlemen served as Pallbearers: Mike Arnold, Johnny (Pee Wee) Owenby, Doug Chastain and Charles Loudermilk. Interment followed in the Blairsville City Cemetery.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.
