Mr. David "Rio"Rich

Mr. David "Rio" Rich, age 65, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, GA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 in Union General Hospital. Mr. Rich was born Sunday, October 22, 1939 in Union County to the late Jim Rich and the late Julie Colwell Rich. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County and also attended the House of Prayer Interdenominational Church. David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Junior Rich and J.M. Rich and three sisters, Marie Guffey, Bertie Arnold and Mary Jane King.

Survivors include: sister, Jan Nelson; niece, Martha Hamby; nephew, Mike Arnold; and niece, Jackie Arnold, all of Blairsville, GA. Funeral services were held Friday, October 7, 2005 at 11 AM from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Music was provided by The Kelley Trio. Interment followed in the Blairsville City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were the following gentlemen: Terry Rogers, Stanley Garrett, Larry Turner, Ray Rogers, Ken Hall, Bobby Rogers, Steve Fiske and Brad Barnes. Honorary pallbearers include: Andy Stephens, and The Union/Towns Volunteers for the Handicapped. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Thursday, October 6. The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements
