OBITUARY:
PEEBLES--The funeral services of Mrs. E. J. Peebles, formerly of Salem, an Oregon pioneer, who died yesterday in Portland, will take place in Salem, Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., from the First Methodist church, to which all former friends and Oregon pioneers are invited. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Mrs. Peebles was the wife of Judge John C. Peebles, whom she survived by eighteen years, and who was well known in Marion county as a prominent political leader and a citizen influential in early Oregon affairs generally.
Mrs. Peebles was the mother of the late Prof. George A. Peebles, who at one time was the city superintendent of Salem schools. Surviving her are Mrs. O. E. Leet of Woodburn, Mrs. J. D. Agnew of Kooskia, Idaho and John M. Peebles of Rupert, Idaho.
