Henry Bascom Lemaster,79, retired farmer of Winifred, died of a heart attack in a local hospital at 5:35 p.m., August 21, following an illness of one year. The son of William D. and Gervie Sloan Lemaster, he was born at Winifred January 27, 1880, and had been a lifelong resident of that community. He was converted and joined the Old Hood Baptist Church at the age of 19, Later when the Frank's Creek United Baptist Church was organized in May 1934, he became a charter member of that church and served as a deacon until his death. He was a loyal and faithful member, and his life of Christian consecration was an expiring example to others. He was a beloved and respected member of his community and always greeted his neighbors and friends with a hearty welcome and a kind word. Survivors include his wife, Virgie Florence Harris; five sons, Virgil, Flat Gap; Ochie, Marion, Indiana; Roy, Detroit, Michigan; Raleigh, Winifred; John L. Lemaster of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Mayme Campbell and Mrs. Lora Fairchild, Lafayette, W.Va.; Mrs. Tera Johnson, Kertz; Mrs. Effie Lemaster, Kertz. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 1:00 p.m. Sunday with O.I. Williams, Tommie Bailey, F.F. Rigsby and Lonza Reed as officiating ministers. Burial was in the Lemaster Cemetery at Winifred. Paintsville Herald Wednesday August 26,1959
