Sheffield and Baird Service Set Friday

A joint funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16 from the Robert E. Peters funeral home, Huntingdon, for Gail G. Sheffield, 51, Huntingdon R.D. 1, well-known area contractor, and his brother-in-law, George William Baird, 51, of Mill Creek, both of whom died Tuesday, April 13, 1976.

The Rev. Donald May and the Rev. Paul Dodson will officiate at the joint service.

Mr. Sheffield will be interred in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Huntingdon R.D. 1, and Mr. Baird will be interred in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.

George William Baird died at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the York Hospital, York, where he had been a patient for four months. He had been in failing health for the past two years.

Born June 5, 1924, in Mill Creek, he was a son of Calvin and Minnie (Snack) Baird.

Surviving children include George C. Baird, Mill Creek, Star Route; Mrs. Joseph McDonald, York; Mrs. Raymond (Cynthia) Baughn, Mill Creek; Randy Lee Baird, Mill Creek, Star Route, and six grandchildren.

Surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Dorothy Pandolfino, Huntingdon; Mrs. Geraldine Sheffield, Huntingdon R.D.1; Mrs. Shirley Sarvis, Altoona; John Baird, Duncansville, and Ted Baird, Altoona.

He was of the Protestant faith.

A heavy equipment operator by trade, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Operating Engineers, Local No. 66, Clearfield.
