Audrey Edith Lott Bodiford, 98, formally of Blackville, SC passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 11, 2022. A private family service will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 with Dr. Thomas Terry officiating.
Born in Blackville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Leon William and Geneva Givens Lott and the loving and devoted wife of the late Audrey Bodiford.
Audrey retired after 23 years of service from First Citizens Bank in West Columbia, SC and she and her husband returned to their hometown of Blackville, SC. She was a devoted Christian and faithful servant and was an active member of Blackville First Baptist Church.
While she was known to most as "Mrs. Audrey", her greatest treasures called her "Mema". In her earlier years, Mema was an avid gardener. She loved flowers and could grow just about anything. She worked hard and she loved hard, as well. She was one of the best cooks around. Her children and grandchildren loved get-togethers at Mema's to eat her fried chicken, peas, rice and fried cornbread. These family times with her created some very precious memories. She always saw the good in everyone and was always willing to help others. She instilled these values in her children and grandchildren. Her family was most important to her and the family traditions she started will continue to live on.
Survivors include her children Jerry (Vera) Bodiford of Barnwell, SC; Jane Bodiford Fore (Joe Burchette) of Spartanburg, SC; Don Bodiford of Charleston, SC and Terri (Mark) Bolton of Aiken, SC. Grandchildren: Robin (Gary) Brantley; Jody (Redeena) Bodiford; Robby Fore; Jana (Jeff) McAlister; Barry (Allison) Bodiford; Andrew (Diana) Bodiford; Brent (Hilary) Bodiford; Nikki (Brad) Ellis; and Mark Bolton, Jr. and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by three sisters: Theo Bodiford, Lois Hair and Marjorie Williams and four brothers: Ronald Lott, Sr., Frank Lott, Paul Lott and Bill Lott.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and special thanks to the loving and caring staff at PruittHealth of Barnwell, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Blackville Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 365, Blackville, SC 29817.
