William J. Sprenkle was born January 27th, 1833 in Hamiltonban Twp., Adams Co., Pennsylvania, the son of William J Sprenkle Sr. and Elizabth Gough.

William J. Sprenkle married Margaret E "Maggie" Wyant. on January 31st, 1856.

Maggie & William had ten children: Roland Sherwood; Florence N.; Edgar Allen; Clyde F.; Margie M. (Wills); Elnora E.; Charles A.; William Howard; Chester Arthur; & Verna V. (Sanders, Pittenger).

William died May 19th, 1892 in Fountaindale, Adams Co., Pennsylvania

From the "Gettysburg Compiler" published 24 May 1892:

"On Thursday our community was shocked by the news that Wm. J. Sprenkle, of Fountaindale, was stricken with paralysis. He was at his saw mill at the time, was taken to his residence, and a physician sent for, but he could do nothing for him and he died during the night. He was well and favorably known as a mill-wright."
