Mrs. Verna Sanders Pittinger, 54, widow of the Rev. Samuel Pittinger, died early Sunday morning in the Warner hospital from complications. She had been ill several weeks at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. Merle Sanders, Fairfield, and was admitted to the hospital Saturday morning.
Her husband, the Rev. Mr. Pittinger, died June 26, 1938.
She was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Sprenkle, and was born near Fountaindale and had lived in Adams county all her life. She was twice married, first to George Sanders whose death occurred 22 years ago.
The deceased was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are four sons and two daughter by her first marriage. They are Carroll Sanders and Mrs. Esther Fillmore, both of York; Merle Sanders, Fairfield; Mrs. Evelyn Hoffman, Aspers; and Ray Sanders and Curtis Sanders, both of Gettysburg. Nine grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will e held Wednesday afternoon, meeting at the Allison funeral home, Fairfield, at 1:30 with services in Zion Lutheran church, Fairfield, at 2:00 conducted by the Rev. W. E. Nelson, pastor of the Hancock, Maryland, Methodist church. Interment in Union cemetery, Fairfield.
