Anna Madean Blalock DuBus, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro.

She was born and raised in Bay, graduating from Bay High School, Arkansas State University and the University of Missouri. Madean's passion for children and education was evident as she literally touched the lives of thousands of families throughout her decades of service as an educator. She began teaching in South-Eastern Missouri, continued at Mexico, Missouri and finished her career at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas.

She is survived by her two sons, James Kendall "Ken" DuBus of Jonesboro and Lyle Wilton DuBus of Mexia, Texas; a sister, Jimmie Kohler (Warren) of San Diego, California; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Madean was preceded in death by her husband, James "Skip" DuBus; her parents, Jim and Laura Turner Blalock; three brothers, James, George and Herbert Blalock; seven sisters, Mary Blalock, Lula Mae Glover, Amelia Lewis, Jane Johnston, Jennie Penn, Sue Pace and Laura Frances Inboden.

A celebration of her life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
