Nellie Jane Blalock Johnston, 85, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was a homemaker, a school teacher and worked for the Craighead County Social Services where she served as Director from 1968 until her retirement in 1982.

She was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church where she was in the Fidelis II Sunday School Class, a member of the Arts Study Group, Altrusa, and the Bay Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jay Johnston; her parents, Jim and Laura Turner Blalock; two brothers, George Blalock and JA Blalock and three sisters, Mary Blalock, Amelia Lewis and Lula Mae Glover.

She is survived by one son, Jim Johnston of Paragould; two daughters, Judy Roberts of Jonesboro and Linda Barnes of Bay; one brother, Herbert Blalock of Jonesboro; five sisters, Jimmie Kohler of San Marcos, Calif., Sue Pace of Memphis, Tenn., Madean Dubus of Mr. Pleasand, Tex., Laura Inboden and Jennie Penn, both of Jonesboro; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were today at 2 p.m. at the Nettleton Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Pallbearers will be Jim Bryant, James Blalock, Joseph Blalock, Eddie Way, Tony Bari and Steve Inboden.
