Daughter of Thomas C. and Elizabeth Vest Malone, born in what was then Washington County, Kentucky, came with her family to Missouri at a young age. Married Thomas H. Clayton. Asher Cemetery does not have a record for Mary Malone Clayton and no monument has been found, but her death certificate states she is here.

Husband, Thomas H. Clayton, born 1831 in England, died reportedly 1914. Thomas and Mary Clayton, ages 25 & 26, are found as husband and wife on the census of 1860, without children. Thomas is noted on the census of 1910, age 78; Mary is noted on the census of 1920 as a widow, age 87, living with son Francis W. Clayton. No death or burial record has been found for Thomas H. Clayton, though it is highly likely he is buried at Asher Cemetery. The children of Thomas and Mary Malone Clayton are also buried at Asher.
