Son of Thomas Malone and Elizabeth Vest Malone who arrived in what was then Crawford County, Missouri about the year 1834, coming from the area of Bradfordsville, Washington County (now Marion Co.) Kentucky.

Samuel was born about Dec. 1847 at Norman, Meramec Township, Phelps County, Missouri. He lived in the southern Meramec Township area his entire life. He was a farmer, but was also a Justice of the Peace and therefore referred to as "Squire Malone".

He was married to Deliah Shoemate about 1867 [she was d/o William Clayton Shoemate and Sarah Ann Farris Shoemate].

Samuel and Delilah were the parents of 12 children (3 are not accounted for; reportedly, one was named Bessie Malone, born about 1891).

F.A.G. contributor C.J. Malone ads: "Just a few tidbits...
Samuel died at the home of his eldest son John Wesley Malone. He had complained of extreme leg pain prior to his death. Samuel had stated to his son John many times the name of the man who killed his son Lawrence. There was never an indictment in that case."

His grave at Asher Cemetery was long unmarked, though there was a good monument for his wife Delilah. A photo has now been posted on his memorial for a grave marker, obviously new, Sam Melone, 1847-1926. Not sure this is in the same location as his wife's tombstone. Thank you, whoever you may be, for the placing a marker, and photographing it, for my great-grandfather.
