This community was shocked on last Tuesday evening to hear of the death of Walter W. Titzel, formerly of this place, but later of Harrisburg, Pa., where he was in the employ of the P. R. R. Co, as a fireman from Harrisburg to Altoona on freight.

Mr. Titzel and his engineer were on their way to Altoona on last Monday night with what the railroad men call the "dead head," engine and caboose when, as we have been informed, through a misunderstanding of orders, they were run into by a fast passenger train which resulted in the death of Mr. Titzel. Two other persons who were on the "dead head" jumped and saved their lives. Mr. Titzel was taken to Harrisburg and thence brought to Ickesburg on Friday, where services were held in the Reformed church by the Rev. C. A. Waltman, assisted by Mrs. Titzel's minister from Harrisburg, after which his remains were interred in the Buffalo cemetery.

A number of the Brotherhood of Fireman accompanied the remains to this place, and paid a high tribute to the deceased for his faithfulness as a fireman.

The deceased was married to a daughter of Hamilton Simonton, of this place, and as a result of this union three children were born, who with the widow survive the deceased.

The deceased was aged 30 years, 2 months and 18 days. He belonged to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Fireman of Harrisburg and to the Penna. Relief. The family have the sympathy of their entire community in this their sore bereavement.
