Edwin Lyon was born in Kane County, Illinois, Aug. 21, 1850 and died at his home, 4 1/2 miles north of Plano, Iowa, April 18, 1921. He came with his parents to Iowa at the age of 16 years. In the year 1877 he married Catherine E. Bear. They located on the farm, which has been their home for forty-four years. To this union ten children were born, all of who survive except one daughter who preceded him several years ago at the age of fifteen months. He is survived by his wife and children: Mrs. Frank Kirkland, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Ira Lyon of Plano, Iowa; Mrs. Ed Wyrick of Plano, Iowa; Mrs. Walter Haines of Cincinnati, Iowa; Fred Lyon, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Harry of Mystic, Iowa, Nellie, Jay and Artie at home. Two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Mary Curtis of Plano; Mrs. Jennie Hixenbaugh, Logan, Kansas; Doug and Grant of Rathburn, Iowa, and eleven grandchildren. On account of one of the complications no funeral could be held and he was buried in the home cemetery (Lyon)
