Mr. Cole Wiley Carter, Sr., 75, passed away Sunday (October 2, 2022) at his residence in Waycross following a short illness.

He was born in Ware County to the late Frank Allen Carter and Ruby Wildes Carter. He was a former heavy equipment mechanic and attended Jamestown Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by five siblings, Inez Myers, Manning Griffin, Faye Phillips, Rhonda Leverett, and Ruby Lee.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Agnes Johns Carter of Waycross; three children, Tammy Douglas (Chris) of Waresboro, Cole Carter, Jr. (Sherri) of Waycross, and Clint Carter (Jennifer) of Waycross; 12 grandchildren, Jacy Douglas, Nash Douglas, Cassie Carter, Camryn Carter, Brianna Carter, Trenton Thrift, Mallory Rowell (Easton), Cameron Parker, Halli Franklin (Alvin), Mackenzie Albritton (Justin), Brody Carter, and Ashley Olsen; 6 great grandchildren, Madyson Carter, Aiden Franklin, Olivia Franklin, Ryder Albritton, Bella Starr, and Addisyn Olsen; three siblings, Allen Carter (Judy) of Hawthorne, FL, Vickie Sue Copeland of Waycross, and Dennis Carter (Karen) of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 5, 2022) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock.

Active Pallbearers will be Nash Douglas, Alvin Franklin, Clay Carter, Robbie Lee, Jason Carter, and Sam Henderson.

The family requests his CB Radio friends and Senior Dance friends to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 10:40 a.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.
