He was born June 7, 1908, in Greensburg, the son of Harlan A. and Rose D. Pile (Dullenty) Hersley.
He was married to Ruth M. Shafer on Dec. 13, 1926, in Versailles, and she survives.
He was a member of the Bethel Apostolic Church.
Mr. Hersley was a farmer and a retired worker of Greensburg Wrecking Co.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons: John Hersley, Richard Hersley Sr., Larry Hersley Sr. and David Hersley, all of Greensburg; five daughters: Mrs. Edith Lock of Colorado, Mrs. Louis (Betty) Yorn and Joyce Jones, both of Greensburg, Mrs. JoAnn Hornaday of Georgia and Diana Hankins of Rushville; two brothers, Fred Hersley and Denny Dullenty, both of Greensburg; one sister, Dorothy Mohr of Mooresville; 46 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Apostolic Church with Rev. Eston Poling officiating. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church Friday.
