Henry and Mary's sons, Ira and Alexander, moved to Albemarle County, Virginia, where Alexander served as cler for many years, with Ira as his deputy. After Alexander retired, Ira became the chief clerk.
The rest of Henry's children moved to Kentucky. Henry moved there in 1810. He died intestate in Fayette Co., KY in April 1814, where his estate was settled.
Henry and Mary's children are as follows:
Ira Garrett (1772-1780)
Thomas Johnson Garrett (1777-1855)
Henry Garrett, Jr. (1777-1847)
Alexander Garrett (1778-1860)
Capt. Ashton Garrett (1780-1834)
Elizabeth Garrett* (1781-____)
Mary Garrett* (1782-____)
Richard Garrett* (1784-_____)
Peter Nobins Garrett* (1787-1840), later used the name Peter R Garrett
Clarissa Garrett Milan (1790-1835)
Francis Everett Garrett (1792-1841)
Susan Garrett Davenport (1795-___)
George Garrett (____- before 1825)
Nancy Garrett (____-____)
William Garrett (____-____)
Most of these children are listed among the heirs of Henry Garrett in deeds found in Montgomery and Nelson Counties, Kentucky.
Four children, marked with an *, were born to a Henry Garrett and Mary Johnson and christened in St. James Northam Parish, Goochland Co., VA. No further record of them exists, with the exception of Peter Garrett, who always appears as Peter R Garrett in records bearing his name. It could be that these four children were actually the children of another Henry and Mary Johnson Garrett. This is supported by the fact that Capt. Henry Garrett, Sr. and his wife lived in Louisa Co., VA.
Several of Henry and Mary's children, were remembered in the 1814 will of their mother's sister, Elizabeth Johnson, who never married. One niece, named Nancy Garrett, may have actually been Nancy Thompson Garrett, the wife of her nephew, Thomas J Garrett, as no Nancy appears among the heirs of Henry Garrett, Sr. in the Montgomery and Nelson Co., KY deeds.
