|Doris Humphries Buck passed away peacefully on September 14, 2022, with family members by her side. She was born on September 29, 1934, the fifth child of Emmett Melvin and Rosie Campbell Humphries in Augusta County , Virginia.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald William Buck Sr. as well as her parents. She was also predeceased by her brothers, William, Marvin, David, and Berl Humphries; her sister, Yvonne Humphries Sorrells; and her stepson, Ronald W. Buck Jr.

She is survived by her three children, daughters, Donna S. Buchanan (Chris Wolfe) and Patricia K. Buchanan MD (Luke Lancaster MD), and son, David Campbell Buchanan Jr. (Virginia Buchanan). She is also survived by grandchildren, Amanda Wolfe, Andrew Lancaster, Melanie Lancaster, and David Buchanan III; her sister, Anne Humphries Branch, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She grew up in Augusta County, Va., and graduated from Wilson Memorial High School. She raised her family in Charlottesville, where she was a homemaker, excellent cook, an accomplished seamstress and teacher at Mill Fabrics, a quilter, and a long term employee of the Michie Company as a copy editor and customer service representative. In her later years she was a loving caretaker for her husband during his lengthy illness. Spending time with her grandchildren was the highlight of her life. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Charlottesville for over 50 years, serving with the Presbyterian Women and more recently attended Olivet Presbyterian church in Ivy, Va.

She will be remembered by her children for her loving dedication to family and teaching them to work hard and do the right thing. She modeled grace in times of adversity and could always be counted on to be supportive of family and friends in need. She set a wonderful example of how to live your life. She was loved and will be deeply missed.

The family will host a visitation at Hill and Wood Funeral Home on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 5 until 6 p.m. A private burial service for family and close friends will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens the following day. The family plans to have a celebration of life service later in the fall at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Legacy Hospice or the Central and Western Virginia Chapter of The Alzheimer's Association.
