Yvonne (Humphries) Sorrells, 75, widow of Bobby Lee Sorrells, Sr. of 1534 Stuarts Draft Highway passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Sorrells was born December 29, 1936 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Emmett Melvin and Rosie Walker (Campbell) Humphries.
Mrs. Sorrells retired in 1998 from Genicom where she had worked as a payroll clerk for forty-three years. She was a member of Old Providence A.R.P. Church and a dedicated member of the Women of the Church. She was a wonderful mother and loved her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William Humphries, Marvin Humphries and David Humphries.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Lee Sorrells, Jr. and wife Kathy; a daughter, Lois S. Stogdale and husband Ricky all of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Berl Humphries and wife Iris of Raphine; two sisters, Anne Branch and husband Bob of Stuarts Draft and Doris Buck of Charlottesville; five grandchildren, Cassandra Sorrells and her companion Jennifer Bowman, Joshua Sorrells and wife Cheri, Corey Stogdale, Michael Stogdale and Katie Stogdale; a great-grandson, "My Sweet-Heart" Nathan Sorrells; three step-grandchildren, Lane Withrow, Matthew Withrow and Dawn LaRue and five step-great-grandchildren, Tyler Maddox, Jeffrey Maddox, Ryan LaRue, Lelia Withrow and Mitchell Withrow and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 in the Old Providence A.R.P. Church by Pastors H. Max Bolin and William Harris.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Doug Alexander, Tommy Humphries, David Buchanan, Jr., Billy Humphries, Adam Eavers, Eric Sorrells and Tracy Sorrells. Honorary pallbearers will be Lane Withrow, Matthew Withrow, Josh Dudley, Salone Rohr, Jeremy Shipe, Ryan Cox, Tommy Lawson, Caleb Liptrap, Stacy Clemmer, Dawn LaRue, Tyler Maddox, Jeffrey Maddox, Ryan LaRue and Ricky Perry.
The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
