Son of Solomon and Betsey ‘Geloton' Cross. His first wife was Levina Lisenby who he married on November 6, 1842 in DeWitt County, Illinois. They had 1 child: Priscilla. His second wife was Elizabeth Jemima Henson who he married October 29, 1846 in Macon County, Illinois. They had 5 children: James S., Robert A., William Henry, Sarah Ann, and Jemima Ellen. Jacob married a third time to Jemimah, last name unknown.

DIED: In Harristown township, January 13, of kidney trouble, Jacob Cross, aged 72 years, 4 months and 13 days.

The funeral sermon of Jacob Cross was preached by the pastor of Sharon church. The deceased was noted for charity, industry and honesty. He had lived near Sharon for over thirty years. The remains were interred in Wykles cemetery.
