Norma Jean Steckline, 72, Hays, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at her home. She was born April 23, 1935, in Hays to Edmund and Elizabeth (Rupp) Dreiling.

She married Clarence Steckline on June 7, 1956, in Severin.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and Ellis Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Larry Steckline and wife, Donna, Hays, and Clarence Steckline Jr., Bazine; two daughters, Veronica Leiker and Dorothy Urban and husband, Patrick, all of Hays; two brothers, Wilmer Dreiling, Ellis, and Robert Dreiling, Spearfish, S.D.; a sister, Mary Moore, Hays; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. A vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Masses in care of the funeral home.
