Clarence Steckline, 73, Hays, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at his home. He was born June 4, 1936, in Ellis County to John and Margaret (Spies) Steckline.

He married Norma Jean Dreiling on June 7, 1956, in Severin. She preceded him in death Dec. 9, 2007.

He was a farmer and worked in the oil fields. He was a member of the St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry, Hays, and J.R. and Debbie, Bazine; two daughters, Veronica Leiker and Dorothy Urban & husband, Patrick, all of Hays; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin, and a sister, Dorothy.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or according to the wishes of the family in care of the funeral home.
