Alice (Hunt) Kaut's final resting place next to her daughter's grave in the Boyle Family Cemetery.

Alice's original gravesite was on the grounds of Eastern State Hospital. On November 28, 1984, Alice's g-g-g-granddaughter, Patricia (Boyle) Hoke, relocated Alice's remains to the Boyle Family Cemetery in Greenup, Greenup County, KY, where Alice was laid to rest next to her daughter, Neva (Kaut) Boyle.

Alice received a proper funeral with a new casket, flowers, a hearse, a preacher and many family members in attendance.

The only known photo of ALICE (HUNT) KAUT's original gravesite at Eastern Kentucky Lunatic Asylum (currently called Eastern State Hospital), Lexington, Kentucky.

ALICE (HUNT) KAUT, was committed to Eastern Kentucky Lunatic Asylum. Alice died and was buried at the asylum 08 July 1907. Alice's was one of the only graves that had a marker. In the 1980s, Patricia (Boyle) Hoke, the family historian, located and disinterred Alice's remains from the asylum/hospital. Patricia held a full funeral for Alice complete with hearse, preacher, family members and flowers. Patricia had Alice's remains reinterred next to her beloved daughter, Neva, at the Boyle Family Cemetery in Greenup. Alice's marker was also relocated with her remains.

1907 Newspaper Obituary: "The sad news received here last week of the death of Mrs. Alice Kaut at Lexington, Kentucky, on June 10th. It will be sadly remembered that many years ago her mind became affected to such an extent that it became necessary to send her to the insane asylum at Lexington. She was a good, kind noble and respected lady and her many friends will be sad to learn of her death. She was born January 1, 1851, and at the time of death was 50 years 5 months and 7 days old. She leaves besides a host of relatives and friends, three children to mourn her loss. John and Ben Kaut, 2 prominent business men of this county and Mrs. Neva Boyle of Hood. Her remains were laid to rest at Lexington, June 10th."

19 April 1880, Trial at Greenup County, Kentucky adjudged Alice "Kout" was insane and was to be sent to Eastern Kentucky Asylum for the Insane. On a similar note, Alice's brother, HOWARD HUNT, was also sent to Eastern Kentucky Asylum for the Insane at a later date and was released. He returned to the asylum of his own accord and died there. Howard was likely buried on the asylum grounds in an unmarked grave.

Alice's husband, GEORGE ALLEN KAUT, was born 24 October 1844 in Greenup, Kentucky, and died 31 July 1926 in 2833 Carter Avenue, Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky. George married ALICE HUNT 02 November 1871 by Rev. Jeremiah Farmer, Greenup, Greenup County, Kentucky.

i. NEVA ANN KAUT, b. 15 November 1872, Greenup, Kentucky; d. 27 July 1960, Greenup, Kentucky.

ii. JOHN ALLEN KAUT, b. 22 October 1874, Greenup, Kentucky; d. 07 January 1935, Greenup, Kentucky.

iii. BENJAMIN WATSON KAUT, b. 05 February 1877, Greenup, Kentucky; d. 14 July 1961, St. Cloud, Florida.

iv. WILLIAM HENRY KAUT, b. 22 January 1879, Greenup, Kentucky; d. 18 March 1895, Greenup, Kentucky.
