Marguerite was born in South Tilley, NB on September 8, 1918. She was the oldest child of the late Perry and Priscilla (Downing) DeMerchant. Marguerite leaves behind her children Brian Ray Frederick Baker (Janice) of Rothesay, NB, Priscilla Dawn Baker of St. Louis, Missouri; her grandchildren Brian Baker and Priscilla Danai Baker (Cauble); her brothers Stuart DeMerchant (Roberta) and Stephen DeMerchant (Shirley), both of Perth-Andover; her sisters-in-law Emily DeMerchant of Perth-Andover, Barbara DeMerchant of Fredericton, Marion DeMerchant of Davenport, FL, Dorothy DeMerchant of Hamilton, ON; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband Ray Frederick Baker; her second husband Arthur Johnston; her children, baby Adrian Baker and Dorothy Marlene Baker; brothers George, Bernard, Jack, and Leo.
Marguerite was affectionately known by her grandson as Grammy and by her granddaughter as Nanny.
Marguerite worked as an LPN for Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital for many years. She was an active member of the Wesleyan Church and lastly the Calvary Tabernacle Pentecostal Church.
