Jerico Springs Optic, 3 November 1923:
"Henry Clay Brown, the deceased was born in Pike County, Illinois July 19, 1854 age 69 years 4 months and 5 days and passed from this life November 24, 1923.
At the age of twelve years he moved with his parents, William and Harriet Brown, to Dade Co., MO., and settled near Greenfield, then later moved to Cedar Co., where he spent the remainder of his life.
He was married to Fannie E. Tucker August 17, 1876, to which union four children were born two boys and two girls, Virgil S. who resides in Fresno, California, James W. of Stockton, Mo. Minnie M. Boston and Ina L. Rannals both of near Jerico Springs, all but Virgil were with him during the long suffering and also his death.
Having confessed his faith in his Saviour some time during his life he was prepared to enter into the Kingdom to await the Ressurection.
His many friends bear testimony to his being a devoted husband and father, a kind neighbor and a good reliable citizen. Funeral services were conducted at Omer M. E. Church by Elder J. W. Porter, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Omer Cemetery. He leaves a host of relativ [sic] and friends to mourn his departure.
There is a land of pure delight,
Where saints immortal reign,
Infinate day excludes the night,
And pleasure banish pain.
There everlasting spring abides,
And never withering flowers flowers;
Death,like a narrow sea divides,
This heavenly land from ours.
