Son of Richard J. Cashion and Mary Virginia Johnson. He was the youngest of their four children.

His siblings were Harriet Isabelle Cashion, Robert Jefferson Cashion and Richard Martin Cashion. He had one half-brother, Thomas L. Cashion.

He married Pearl B. McAnelly in about 1909. No known children were born to this union, but Pearl had a son, Jesse Lee Campbell, from a previous marriage.

His headstone says he died in 1916, but it was actually 1915, as confirmed by the "Texas Death Index 1903-2000" and newspaper articles in 1915, including a brief announcement of his death from shooting in the Denton Record-Chronicle, Denton, Texas, Nov. 4, 1915 (found at newspaperarchive.com). He was 34 years old.
