OBITUARY
Charles C. Ackerman
SPEARVILLE -- Charles C. Ackerman, 90, died Feb. 5, 1995, at Western Plains Regional Hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1904, in ford County, the son of John and Frances (Chalk) Ackerman. He was a retired farmer, moving to Spearville in 1967. He was a former member of the Co-op board, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Spearville, and the Knights of Columbus Council 2462 of Windthorst. He was also a past Grand Knight. On Oct. 3, 1933, he married Elizabeth m. Schawe in Windthorst. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Gilbert, Spearville; four daughters, Catherine Brungardt, Garden City, Alice Craig, Lubbock, Texas, and Erma Schneweis and Martha Strecker, both of Dodge City; two brothers, John and Anthony, both of Spearville; two sisters, Alma Schawe, Spearville and Sister Perpetua Ackerman, Wichita; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A vigil and wake will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. John's in Spearville. funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Gerald A. Hammeke presiding. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Windthorst. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. today at Burkhart Funeral Chapel in Dodge City and at the church from 4 p.m. today until service time. The family suggests memorials to the Holy Cross Cemetery fund in care of the funeral home.
