Services for Barbara "Babs" Jenkins Mahfouz will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2022, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gearheard officiating.
Entombment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Lafayette.
Barbara Jenkins Mahfouz, 84, of Alexandria, passed away on July 26, 2022, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Aileen Patrick and step-father, Willard Jenkins.
Barbara was born on July 15, 1938, in Salyersville, Kentucky. She moved to Alexandria, LA where she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Mahfouz, and after a five year courtship, they were married on January 24, 1959.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as Sitti. She was a loving wife to her husband and was very appreciative of his extraordinary love and care over the last few years.
Babs worked in the school system as a secretary, starting at S. J. Montgomery in Lafayette until moving back to Alexandria in 1985. From 1985 until retirement, she worked at Scott M. Brame Middle School. Babs immensely enjoyed working with the children, especially, all her office helpers whom she adored. All the kids she taught loved her. She was an avid reader and on occasion could be spotted at one of our local casinos. Babs was a member of the No Name Club and the Krewe of Mystique.
Babs is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert "Bob" Mahfouz; children, Robbie Mahfouz (Chris) and Karen Mahfouz Marino (Gino) of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Shae Brittany Mahfouz, Halle Lee Mahfouz, and Ana Gabrielle Marino; step-brother, Tony Jenkins, and numerous brother and sister in laws as well as many nieces and nephews.
