Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Lee Mahfouz will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 2, 2023, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Gearheard officiating.

First visitation will be held at Kramer Funeral Home beginning on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a recitation of the Holy Rosary in the Kramer Chapel at 6:30 PM. The vsitation will resume on Monday at 8:30 AM until time of service.

A second visitation will be held at Delhomme Funeral Homes

Entombment will follow at 3:00 PM at Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Lafayette.

Robert "Bob" Lee Mahfouz, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26th in Alexandria, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara "Babs" Louise Jenkins Mahfouz; his parents, Victor and Latifey Mahfouz; and his brothers, Joe, Raymond, Kelly, and Happy Mahfouz; and his sisters, JoAnn Pospisil, and Gloria Baker.

Bob was born in Fargo, Arkansas on December 5th, 1935. His family moved to Alexandria where he graduated from Holy Savior Menard High School in 1952. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University on an athletic scholarship and graduated in 1957. Bob then went on to receive his Master's in Education at LSU.

He met Barbara Jenkins, the love of his life, while attending high school in Alexandria. They married in 1959 and enjoyed 63 years together before her passing in 2022.

Upon graduation, Bob began a long career in education and coaching. He was part of a state championship football program at Reserve High School in the late 1950's. He was named Head Football Coach at Menard High School ('62 - 65; '85 - 91), Lafayette High School ('72-79), as well as serving as Defensive Coordinator at Southeastern from 1966 -71. Bob was appointed Principal at Menard High School in 1987 and served in that capacity for several years. He was honored as "District Coach of the Year" on numerous occasions.

Bob was known as a legend in the coaching world, not only for winning but for the positive impact he made on many lives. After retiring from education, Bob owned and operated the Bayview Yacht Club in Alexandria for 30 years. He will be remembered by all that knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Robert Patrick Mahfouz (Chris) and Karen Louise Marino (Gino); granddaughters, Shae Brittany Mahfouz, Ana Gabriella Marino, and Halle Lee Mahfouz; brothers, Vic Mahfouz (Bobbie) and Pete Mahfouz (Nita); sisters, Maxine Beard (Glen) and Theresa Slater (Jimmy); along with many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
