Imogene Burress Vann, age 90, departed this life on Monday, July 18, 2022, at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born May 15, 1932, Imogene is the daughter of the late Virgil and Edith Burress. Imogene, a retired school teacher, taught for 45 years. She began her teaching career at Smokey Junction in a one room school house. When the school closed, she transferred to Norma School and then to Fairview Elementary School where she retired in 1998. She loved to travel and had visited every state except Hawaii. She was a member of the Oneida Eastern Star, Scott County Education Association, and the American Education Association of Teachers. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Norma Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Johnny Kennith Vann; one daughter Teresa Gay Vann; step-mother Tilley Jeffers Burress; along with brothers Clifford Burress, Arnold Burress, Doyle Burress, and Jimmy Burress.

Imogene is survived by her son Kenneth Allen Vann of Oneida; sisters Marilyn Joan Cook (Teddy) of Halls, June Sharpe of Norma, and Janet Chambers (Roy) of Capital Hill; one brother Argil Burress (Kathy) of Oliver Springs; sister-in-law Shelia Hatfield Burress of Dunkirk, IN; grandchildren Candida Vann Morgan (Billy) of Robbins and Gabrielle Vann Bates (Tyler) of Oneida; great-grandchildren Brandon Morgan, Shasta Hutson, Alena Hughett, Cainan Hughett, Autumn Bates, Zelda Bates, and Sophie Bates; great-great-grandchildren Anthony Hutson and Kahlan Hutson; along with many other special family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Vann family on Friday, July 22, 2022, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville from 4 P.M. until time of funeral services at 7 P.M. with Bros. Larry Sexton and Jeff Watson officiating. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 9 A.M. in the Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fairview, TN.
