Born in Missouri about 1827 according to the 1850 census; she is listed as widow Lucinda Reed on NCTxR1, also 1848; she married January 15 or October 15, 1848, William Howard, in whose household Hiram Lee (son of Lilburn K. Lee) was enumerated on the 1860 census of Hill County. Lucinda died about 1852-53 and William Howard married Mrs. Elizabeth Harrison. It must also be noted that Lucinda is omitted from the family record submitted in "Pioneers of the Six Bulls" by the Newton County, Missouri Historcial Society. The only child included with a birthdate close to her's is a Thomas L. Estes of which there is no other record. Lucinda, however, did exist for without her, I would not be here! She was the mother of my 2nd great grandfather, Francis Marion Reed. I have not been able to locate a marriage record for her marriage to Joseph H. Reed. Joseph's parents and siblings were members of Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Newton County, Missouri prior to their removal to Texas. She is mentioned in her father Hiram Estes' probate which is extant in the courthouse in Navarro County, Texas. I cannot however locate either her's nor Hiram's graves. Nor can I locate where her first husband, F.M. Reed's father died although it is said to be in Texas - according to family lore somewhere up along the Red River. Lucinda left a bible - Great-Grandmother Lucinda Reed's Bible. Given to F.M. Reed by his Mother, then F.M. Reed gave this to son J.A. (Boss) Reed in the year 1908. (This is also written inside the cover of the bible by (probably) Ima Reed, Boss' daughter. After Malachi and the end of the old Testament is written Benjamin H. Reed was born June the 24 1815 or 1816 (pretty dim) and below is written Benjime. On the next page is written:

Frances Marien was bornd Novembar the 27th 1845
Edward B. Estes was bornd march the 8th 1845
Joseph H. Reede was bornd Novembar the 27th 1820
Lusinday Estes was bornd Febuary the 23th 1827
George Howard was born August the 31st 1849
Nancy Howard was born January the 31st day 1852
Then on a blank page opposite the New Testament Title page is written:
Joseph H. Reede died the 17 day of Novembar in theyear of our lord 1846
Lucy Estes died July the 17 day in the year of ower lord 184? (looks to be 1847 or 1849)
Hesterann Estes died Oct the 26 day in the yeare of ower lord 1846
Hiram S. Estes died (again very dim-looks like) 1849?
Then on another bible page that is blank:
Joseph H. Reede and Lusinday Estes was married novembar the 10th 1843
Frances M. Reede was bornd Novembar the 27th 1845
Wm. Howard and Lucinda Reed was married October the 15th 1848
The Bible is missing the 1st 50 or so pages. The New Testament page reads as follows: The NEW TESTAMENT of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: Translated out of the Originial Greek and with the Former Translations diligently compared and revised. New York, Published by the American Bible Society, Daniel Fanshaw, Printer, No. 20 Sloat-lane, Sterotyped by E.&J. White, 1819.
