Alva Lamar Thomas was born to the marital union of Arque Neal Davis, Sr, and Marie E. Davis on September 4, 1926, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the fifth of nine children.

Alva accepted Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, the Reverend J.T. Austin, Pastor. She was an active church member, serving as a choir member and for a time served as a choir director until her heath failed.

Alva attended Oklahoma City Public Schools and graduated from Douglass High School in 1945. She was active in speech, drama and the Drum and Bugle core.

Alva was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and rear her three sons. Her favorite pastime and hobby was to read and study the Bible.

Alva departed this life on Saturday, January 19, 2008. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her three sons, Bernard, John and Reginald; four sisters, Velva, Geraldine, Charlene and Norva; one brother, Alfred; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services under the direction of Temple and Sons Funeral Directors, Inc. Interment Trice Hill Cemetery January 26, 2008.
