A Time To Be Born: On December 14, 1919, Velva Lee Davis was born to Arque Neal Davis and Marie Berry Davis in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of nine children Arque, Marie and the family relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and joined Shiloh Baptist Church where Reverend J.T. Austin was the pastor. At the age of 48, dear Marie went home to be with the Lord. In time, Arque was blessed to meet and marry Fanny Allen who was a loving mother to the children.
