ILA RUTH SEARS, 83, of Duncan, loving wife and "Memaw," passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Duncan Regional Hospital.
"Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." Proverbs 31:28.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Heritage Oaks Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Charles Stroud officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bobby Howard. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, under direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Ila Ruth was one of seven children born to Edgar and Ila Fay Blalock. Ila was born Sept. 5, 1924, in a counry home on Beaver Creek in Jefferson County. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse at Diamond.
Ila became the "bride" of Dallas Aubrey Sears on July 6, 1944. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Eldon, Wanda and Karen.
Ila was a homemaker and loved caring and cooking for her family and church. She was a devoted member of Heritage Oaks Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Aubrey; a brother, Earl Blalock of Mountain View; two sisters, Juanita Woolf and her husband Jimmy of Yukon, and Clara Kephart of Duncan; three children, Eldon Sears and Jean of Comanche, Wanda Telford of Lewisville, Texas, and Karen Duncan and Rick of Little Elm, Texas; eight grandchildren, Stacey Bowen and Darrell, Scot Sears, Derryl Telford and Michelle, Theron Telford and Joie, Justin Schaffner, Leslie Schaffner, Chantz Duncan and Ashley, and Cody Duncan; 17 great-grandchildren, Meagan, William, Dallas, Sydney, Mason, Jade, Loryn, Ethan, Ila Joan, Sawyer Aubrey, Tori, Samantha, Brandon, Chandler, Hannah, Jessamy and Cheyenne; and a great-great-grandchild, Averie Grace Cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clifford and Jiggs Blalock; and a sister, Dorothy Metcalf.
Bearers will be her grandsons.
