Abilene Reflector-Chronicle, May 16 and 17, 1963

The Rev. Floyd W. Atkinson, 71 died early Wednesday morning in Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday. Mr. Atkinson came to Dickinson county in 1922 and for 25 years was pastor of the United Brethern Church (Abilene). Following his pastorate he was conference superintendent for three years. Ill health forced his retirement. For the past eight years, he and his wife made their home in Talmage.

Mr. Atkinson was the son of Rev. and Mrs. E. Atkinson and was born at Sabetha, Feb. 14, 1892. He was married on Nov. 8, 1912 to Ada McClanahan in Topeka, he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.

Survivors with his wife are five sons; Dwight, Salina; Wesley, Minot, N.D.; Floyd, Jr., Minneapolis, MN; Gerald, Salina; and Lee, Talmage; three daughters, Mrs. Homer Kuntz, Abilene; Mrs. Clarence France, Talmage; and Mrs. Dale Koelling of Maple Hill; one brother, Lloyd Atkinson, Sabetha; sister, Mrs Myrtle Burgert, Sterling; 29 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Abilene United Brethern Church with the Rev. Warren Else and the Rev. Britt Cordelle of Springdale, Ark. officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Lecompton.
