Leroy Ellsworth Atkinson was the son of Erastus Atkinson and Mary Elizabeth Fields Atkinson. He was one of five children born to them. He moved to California after 1900, first settling in Los Angeles, then in San Jose and Sant Clara. He was a real estate broker. He married Henriette Escolle before 1920. She died on April 12, 1952 and is buried in the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery Mausoleum by Frank. No children are known to be born to them.
