Clara Regina Frey
September 4, 1937 - April 19, 2022

VISTA ---
Regina Frey, age 84, of Vista, CA, died April 19, 2022, from complications of diabetes. She was born in Newton County, Indiana, September 4, 1937, the daughter of Samuel J. and Alice M. (Yoder) Frey.

Following her graduation from Purdue University School of Science in 1959, she moved to California and, except for a few years in Eugene, Oregon resided there for the remainder of her life. Regina was a pioneer in computer software. Her career was devoted to computer software engineering. She was employed by Stanford University and IBM Corporation, among others, developing and supporting database management and mainframe operating systems.

After retirement in 2002, Regina applied her planning and organizational skills to genealogy. She published two books on her family history, developed material for a third, and published several articles in the Journal of the Oregon Genealogical Society.

Regina was a life-long gardener. She began by assisting her mother with large gardens on their Indiana farms. She continued her passion for fresh organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs, at the end by growing them in large pots around her home.

Preceding her in death were her parents, six half-sisters, and a half-brother. Survivors include brothers Norman E. Frey, his wife Judith, Richard L. Frey, and many nieces and nephews.

Her cremated remains will be inurned at the Old Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery, Oceanside, CA. No services will be held in California.
