Born on March 5, 1919, in Dayton, he was the son of the late Austin Wilbur and Edith Mae Gray Bell. He was the husband of 66 years of Mildred VanHorn Bell of Dayton. He was the grandson of the late Ira and Effie Gray.
Mr. Bell had been a superintendent for Murkirk Mineral Pigment Company in Murkirk, Md., for over 35 years. He had served in the 127th Regiment, 32nd Division of the US Army. He was a member for over 50 years of the Solomon Masonic Lodge #121, Savage, Md.
Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Judy Bell of Littlestown, Pa.; son Gary Bell of Dayton; and sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Loretta Bell of New Market, Robert and Doris Bell of Romney, W.Va. and Dwight and Dorothy Bell of New Windsor. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and was expecting his first great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Ann "Tish" Bell who died in 1998.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sykesville, with Pastor Quentin Tate officiating. Interment is in Linthicum Chapel Cemetery, Clarksville.
