Mildred VanHorn Bell, 93, of Dayton, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at home.

Born June 10, 1918, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Rose Kirchner VanHorn. She was the stepdaughter of the late Lucinda VanHorn. She was the wife of the late Dorsey W. Bell.

She had worked in the cafeteria at Clarksville Elementary School and at W.R. Grace & Company in Clarksville. She then worked in the infant department at Woodward and Lothrop Department store until she retired in 1981.

She was a member of Linden United Methodist Church in Dayton and of the Order of The Eastern Star No. 47 in Savage.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Carroll and Judy Bell, of Littlestown, Pa., Gary Bell, of Dayton, Donald and Ruby Loretta Bell, of New Market, Robert and Doris Bell, of Romney, Va., and Dwight Bell, of New Windsor; grandchildren Steven Michael Bell, Christopher Gary Bell, Robert William Bell Jr., Richard Wayne Bell, Diana Michelle Shoemaker, Sandra Lee Livesay, Mark Patrick Bell, Joseph Aaron Bell, Sean Eugene Bell, Brad William Bell, Samantha Denise Seimer and James Taylor Bell; great-grandchildren Amber Nichole Bromley, Alicia Renee Bell, McKenzie Lee, Riley Truscott, Baylee Lane Bell, Brian Scott and Michael Aaron Rothgeb, Keith Lee and Brianna Lee Livesay, Desiree Inez Carter and Brandon Robert Bell, Zachary Aaron and Chloe Marie Bell, Joseph Leroy and Kasey Noell Teasdale, Devon Bell, Tyler and Justin Johnson, and Michael Joseph Seimer; step great-grandchildren Benjamin Ryan Holtzclaw, Amanda and Jessie Wratchford, and Eric Horstick; and a great-great-grandchild, Landon Scott Rothgeb.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Bell.
