Son of James Hazard and Emeline Wilson

One of nine children. When he was fourteen Walter was deaf and dumb since infancy from scarlet fever. He was killed when a gun accidentally discharged . After a hunting trip he leaned the gun against a hall staircase the gun fell and discharged. Even with Walters handicap he was of high spirit and intelligent and loved by all his family.
