Osceola was born in Isle of Wight County Virginia to Charles Henry Darden and his first wife, Nancy Seeds Darden. He is the last of 7 named/known children of this couple. As far as we know Nancy died sometime after the 1850 census and Charles married a second time before the 1860 census.
By 1870 Osceola is living in Hinds County Mississippi with his widowed aunt, Mary McClenny Darden. In 1872 Osceola married Anna Louise Birdsong in Hinds County Mississippi. Anna and Osceola had 7 known children, Dudley Coleman (died in infancy), Josephine Birdsong, Walter Julius, Evalina (died in infancy), Cornelia Head, Will Coleman (died in infancy) and Ocie (also died in infancy). Anna died in 1886 in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas, but her burial place is undiscovered.
In 1889 Osceola married Sally Coker, and they had 5 children, Simeon Charles, Oceola, William Darden, George and Verinia Rubie (died young and buried near her parents). Sally died in 1927.
After leaving Mississippi, Osceola lived in Texas and Oklahoma.
