Mary Jane Sowards (nee: Lang), of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the age of 87.

Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Michael and Emma Lang; devoted wife of the late Luther A. Sowards, Jr.; loving mother of Sandy Vito, Karen Giordano, and Cathy Jo Crites (Darryl); cherished grandmother of Tricia Allen and Richard Giordano; treasured great grandmother of McKenzie Allen, Devon Allen, and Macy Allen; and dear sister of Pat Riat, Virgil Lang, Edna Critchfield, and Irma Silkman; and aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Mary is also preceded in death by 7 of her siblings.

Mary was a long-time and active member of Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church in Overland. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, watching the hummingbirds, and tending to her flowers. Mary loved her family very much and always put them first. She truly appreciated the simple things in life, and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Memorial donations may be made in Mary's name to Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church.
