"Sallie" Herndon was second wife of Patrick Finegan/Finnigan (1822-1878) and mother of John Richard Finegan (1875-1910), Patrick Finegan (1866-1885), Sarah Frances "Babe" Finegan Gentry (1871-1927) and George Melvin Finegan (1876-1947)(# 40220609). Sallie attended a girls' academy (possibly Victoria Female Academy near Cuero, TX), according to her grandaughter, Vesta Gentry Williams (1895-1992). There is now no grave marker, nor any record of actual location of the gravesite. A 1919 hurricane hit Corpus Christi, killing 287 people and raising tides 16 feet above normal. If the grave marker were wooden, it would have easily been dislocated from the grave.
