Felista Martin
Sept. 16, 1924— May 16, 2017
Felista Martin, 92, of Bend, Ore., passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in her apartment at Fox Hollow Independent and Assisted Living. Felista, the fourth of 12 children, was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Lewiston, to Joseph and Sophia Wolf Flerchinger. She grew up in Peola and attended Holy Family Catholic School when they moved to Clarkston in 1934. In 1948, with daughter Carolyn and son Mike, Felista and first husband Carroll O'Connor moved to Prineville, Ore.
Survivors include daughter Carolyn O'Connor Sherwin and husband John of Tucson, Ariz.; sons Mike O'Connor of Bend, Patrick O'Connor and wife Joyce of Livermore, Calif., Tim O'Connor and wife Susan of Netarts, Ore.; her dearly loved 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as brothers Don Flerchinger and wife Carole of Hood River, Ore., and John Flerchinger and wife Caylie of Clarkston; and sisters Marge Servatius of Clarkston and Alice Flerchinger of Spokane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Carroll O'Connor, Robert Braymen and Raymond Martin; and siblings Gene, Rita Dahlin, Gertrude Jackson, Augusta Flerchinger, Cathy Keen, Betty Church and Norbert.
Felista loved family and enjoyed cooking, golfing, politics, gardening, quilting and crocheting, which she enjoyed to the end. She survived 19 years with two painful cancers and bore them with special grace.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish Church in Clarkston. Contributions can be made to Holy Family Catholic School Foundation, P.O. Box 172, Clarkston, WA 99403.
