Son of William Van Wyck and Lydia Ann Maverick, husband of Mary Johnston Battle, the daughter of William Horn Battle and Lucy Martin Plummer, whom he married on July 24, 1861, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and father of Daughter (married Francis Moore), William and Mary Battle Van Wyck (1865-1952).

Marriage - State of North Carolina: This is to certify that I, Francis W. Hellans, died on the 24th day of July, 1861, solemnize the rite of matrimony between William Van Wyck and Mary J. Battle and join them together as man and wife. Given under my hand this 24th day of July, 1861. Francis W. Hellans, Rector of the Chapel of the Cross, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Obituary - Van Wyck - After a short illness, May 28, William Van Wyck, in his 48th year. Funeral services at his Summer residence, Cold-Spring-On-Hudson, New York, on Wednesday, June 1, at 1:30 o'clock p.m. Carriages will be at the Cold Spring Depot to meet the train leaving Grand Central Depot, New York City, at 11:30 a.m.
Kane Lodge, No. 454, F. and A.M. - Brethren: You are invited to attend the funeral of our late brother, William Van Wyck, from his late residence, Cold-Spring-On-Hudson, N.Y., Wednesday, June 1, 1887. Homas E. Stewart, Master; H.W. Penoyar, Secretary.

Also - William Van Wyck, a well-known New York lawyer, died on Saturday of a complication of diseases at his summer residence at Cold-Spring-On-Hudson. He was a Democrat in politics and was a member of the Tammany Hall organization. He was president of the Young Men's Democratic Club, of New York city in the Tilden Presidential campaign. He leaves a wife and three children. His funeral was held Tuesday at Cold Spring.
