A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late W.C. "Charles" and Jennie Angel Mashburn. He is also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Jean Mashburn; four brothers, Avery, Furman, Clate, and Cecil Mashburn; and two sisters, Alice Gore and Jane Hardin.
Mr. Mashburn was a WWII Army veteran. He worked as a lineman with Nantahala Power Company and attended Wells Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Agnes Stewman Mashburn of Franklin; one son, Kenneth Mashburn and wife Judy of Franklin; one daughter, Linda Cabe and husband Steve of Wilkesboro; two sisters, Deeda Elmore of Franklin, and Lola Ferraro of Franklin and Leesburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 28, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home, with Revs. Alton Dendy and Vic Greene officiating.
Visitation was held thirty minutes prior to the service.
Burial was in Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Shook, David Bradley, Bobby Cloer, Wiley Henry, Alvin Mashburn, and Donald Hall. Honorary pallbearer was Luther Palmer.
