Tony, a resident of Ranchito's, passed away after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was predeceased in by his parents Leopoldo C. & Trinidad Martinez; in-laws José B. & Margarita Baca; son Toby G. Martinez; daughter-in-law Sylvia Gallegos-Martinez; grandson Antonio Valdéz; sister Josephine Trujillo; brother-in-law Joe Trujillo; brothers: Pablo Martinez, Eliseo Martinez, and José Martinez; nephew Pablito Martinez; and granddaughter Juliet Martinez.
Tony was survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary E. Martinez; daughters: Judy E. (husband Anthony Archuleta), Jennifer Martinez, Sandy (husband Jason Madigan), and Debra Martinez (partner Aaron Corriz); sons: Tony Martinez Jr. (partner Lori Montoya), Tommy Martinez, and Ben Martinez and our sunshine Michelle Herrera; nephew Fabian Martinez, who is like a son; maternal aunt Bennie Gonzáles; special uncle Antonio Atencio and aunt Lourdes Atencio; special aunt Floraine Atencio; brothers: Frutoso Martinez (wife Bernice) and Belarmino Martinez (wife Lita); sisters-in-law: Connie Martinez, Esther Martinez, Pheobe Córdova, Juanita Baca, Berlin Padilla (husband Leo Padilla); brother-in-law Dan Baca (wife Eva); 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Tony had a love for music. He was a long-time musician for over 35 years and founder of Tony y Mary y Los Cavaliers. Music was his passion, his band was a family band formed of his wife, sons, nephews, grandsons, daughters, and friends. He also served the City of Española for 27 years and was a Veteran of the United States Army. Tony had so much love for his family, they were the world to him next to his love for the Lord. Tony will be dearly missed by his large family and by the community.
Visitation and Rosary were on 20 January 2022 at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Española. Funeral Mass was on 21 January 2022 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
