Max Shaffer, Formerly Of Neimans, Succumbs
Neimans – Max Shaffer, former resident of this place, died last night at 7:05 at Hillview House, Hanover. Husband of the late Mrs. Elda Brenneman Shaffer, he was 74.
Formerly employed for a period of 25 years as an inspector at the McKay Chain Company, York, Mr. Shaffer recently had been making his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Burnell L. Werner, 822 York Street, Hanover. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Zion (Shaffer’s) Union Church.
Mr. Shaffer is survived by four children, Howard L. Shaffer, 927 East Walnut Street, Hanover; Mrs. Stewart Hersh, Jefferson; Raymond E. Shaffer, York RD 6, and Mrs. Werner; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul S. Sheffer, 1434 West Poplar Street, York, and a sister, Mrs. Lottie Hartman, 27 Woodward Drive, York.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. Rev. Millard Kroh, retired pastor of Seven Valleys Lutheran charge, will officiate in the absence of Mr. Shaffer’s pastor, Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, who is ill. Interment will be in Zion (Shaffer’s) Church Cemetery.
